Events that Meet Weekly

Morning Joe at the Reading Terminal Market

A comfortable corner, the Rick Nochols Room, is reserved for FitC members to enjoy coffee and conversation on Tuesday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00.

Schuylkill River Trail Walk

A brisk three-mile walk along the Schuylkill River Trail. Center City walkers meet where Locust Street meets the trail on the river side of train tracks. They walk to the Pagoda overlooking the dam in back of the Art Museum where walkers from Fairmount area join them at 25 inutes after the hour. M,W,F 8:00 a.m. and T,Th 2:00 p.m.

Easy Walkers (on hold for the winter months)

Walkers start at William Penn House and walk around Rittenhouse Square twice a week in the late morning, resting when necessary. M, F 11:00 a.m.

Riverfront Exercise Class

This exercise class meets M,W,F at 8:15 a.m. at Riverfront and all FitC members are welcome to join.
 

Events that Meet Monthly

Behind the Scenes Adventures

From theater to vineyards, libraries, a sleep research laboratory, water and waste management facility, keeping a city and society running smoothly takes lots of behind the scenes work. FitC members take a peek.

Brown Bag Book Clubs

FitC members shape each of the two book clubs to meet their own interests and share wonderful discussions. If FitC members want to form a new book club, we will help get it started.

Current Events Lunch

Join Friends in the City once a month for a stimulating conversation with an expert on the selected topic while enjoying a delicious lunch at the Cosmopolitan Club of Philadelphia. Past guests have included Trudy Rubin, Paul Steinke, Inga Saffron, Former Governor Ed Rendell, and Paul Levy.

Dinner at Riverfront

Enjoy a catered dinner and conversation with residents at Riverfront on 22 S. Front Street. Riverfront is the community residence for some FitC members.

Dinner and Curtis Student Recital

Enjoy a catered dinner in private homes on Rittenhouse Square followed by a Curtis Student Recital at Field Hall.

Exploring Ethnic Eating

Each month former chef Seamus Kearney will arrange for lunch at an ethnic restaurant in Philadelphia.

Great Strolls

During the 2013-2014 year, this group will visit outstanding Philadelphia gardens and other interesting locations. Strolls are co-sponsored with Friends Life Care.

Happy Hour

FitC members meet monthly at the Ritz Carlton to relax and enjoy great conversation.

Writing Clubs

Play Readings

Each of the FitC Participatory Play Reading Groups selects plays to read aloud and discuss. They also plan theater-related excursions.

Religion in the Movies

After screening a movie selected for its religious or spiritual dimensions, FitC members can discuss the film's themes and how the themes are expressed.

Saturday Afternoon Opera in HD at the Rave

Join FitC opera lovers at the Rave for a live simulcast from the Metropolitan Opera in New York followed by dinner and discussion neat the theater.

Vegetarian Lunch

Members enjoy lunch together in  a restaurant that offers a variety of vegetarian meals.
